Penn State, Michigan State, Wisconsin Earn Three Stars Awards

McKenna (PSU), Martone (MSU) and Pulver (WIS) recognized

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for ice hockey games played February 19-21, 2026.

First Star
Gavin McKenna, Penn State
Fr. – F – Whitehorse, Yukon – Medicine Hat (WHL)

  • Compiled an NCAA-best eight assists and 10 points in No. 6/6-ranked Penn State’s home sweep of Ohio State
  • His eight points (goal, seven assists) in Friday’s 11-4 win is the most by a Division I player in 39 years according to College Hockey News
  • Set records for most assists and points in a Big Ten Conference game; his points total tied the third-highest mark all-time overall among Big Ten players
  • Helped PSU set a record for most goals (11) in a Big Ten contest (dating to 2013-14)
  • Scored the overtime game-winning goal in Saturday’s series finale
  • Collects his fourth Big Ten weekly award of the season (2-First Stars, 2-Third Stars)


Second Star
Porter Martone, Michigan State

2025 NHL Draft: 1st Rd, 6th overall, Philadelphia Flyers

  • Led Big Ten players with four goals on the week, sparking No. 1/1-ranked Michigan State to a sweep of Notre Dame
  • Netted three goals in Michigan State’s 8-2 win on Saturday, providing the third hat trick of the season for the Spartans
  • Finished the weekend with 11 shots on goal and plus-four rating
  • Collects his third Big Ten weekly award of the season (2-Second Stars, 1-Third Star)
  • Last Spartan to win a Star Award: Charlie Stramel (February 3, 2026)


Third Star
Eli Pulver, Wisconsin
So. – G – Vancouver, B.C. – Minnesota State (NCAA)

  • Making his eighth start of the season, stopped 22 of 23 shots to lead No. 13/14-ranked Wisconsin to a 4-1 win over No. 2/2-ranked Michigan Friday at the Kohl Center
  • Held the nation’s top scoring team — averaging 4.53 goals per game — to three goals (two even-strength) on the weekend
  • Produced a 1.54 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage
  • Won his third game of the season against a top-two ranked opponent
  • Becomes the seventh Wisconsin player to capture a Star Award this season
