Michigan and Penn State Receive Stars Honors

Michigan’s Hage and Hughes, Penn State’s Fink receive weekly awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Three Stars of the Week for hockey games played Nov. 22-23.

First Star
Michael Hage, Michigan
Fr. – F – Mississauga, Ontario — Chicago (USHL)

  • Compiled a national-best seven points (three goals, four assists) over the weekend as Michigan won a pair of road games versus Penn State
  • Produced a five-point (goal, four assists) effort on Saturday, solidifying his spot atop the team scoring chart with 16 points in 11 games (1.45 ppg).
  • Netted the game-winning goal midway through the third period of a 6-5 win on Friday
  • The Montreal Canadiens first-round draft pick collects his first Big Ten weekly honor
  • Last Michigan First Star: Evan Werner (Nov. 5, 2024)

Second Star
T.J. Hughes, Michigan
Jr. – F – Hamilton, Ontario – Brooks (AJHL)

  • Helped Michigan extend its win streak to seven games with a six-point (five goals, assist) series against Penn State
  • Shared the national lead for most goals scored on the weekend
  • Registered his first career hat trick with a four-goal performance, including the game-winner, in Michigan’s 10-6 win on Saturday
  • The Academic All-Big Ten selection receives his second career Star Award, having previously been named a Second Star on Oct. 31, 2023

  • Totaled three goals, three assists, a plus-five rating and two blocked shots during Penn State’s home series against fifth-ranked Michigan
  • Factored in over half (54.5 percent) of the Nittany Lion’s goal production on the weekend
  • Extended goal-scoring streak to four games
  • The Nashville Predators draft pick garners his fourth career Star Award (1-Second, 3-Thirds) and first of the season
